Sourav Ganguly shares his story right from his debut in 1992 to the ICC World Cup 2003 at a session organised by Classplus
Apr 3, 2021, New Delhi: Classplus, India’s leading platform for educators and coaching institutes to go online, hosted former Indian cricket team captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly for a live session on “How failures make successful leaders” this Saturday afternoon. The event was a phenomenal success with over 50k individuals joining the session. This was a first of its kind live class organised by Classplus to encourage teachers as well as their students to draw inspiration from Sourav Ganguly and see failure as a stepping stone to success.
During the live session, which spanned over an hour, the celebrated cricketer shared his experiences and life lessons with participants on how to stay motivated and continue chasing one's goals relentlessly despite short-term failure. Sourav Ganguly is a strategic investor in Classplus and also serves as their brand ambassador. He recounted various incidents from his cricket career and life including his debut in 1992 and playing alongside veteran cricketers like Tendulkar, Dravid, Harbhajan Singh and many more. Through these incidents, he threw light on the challenges he has faced during his journey so far. He shared how he kept himself focused on his dreams instead of letting challenges throw him off track and how that helped him succeed at every stage in life. He also talked about the importance of self-confidence, perseverance, and discipline.
Sharing some of his life lessons Sourav Ganguly said that one realises their true potential only when their chips are down and nobody believes in them. He also added that in a team, we should take everyone’s opinion into account to do well. Talking about fear of failure, he said failure is a part of everybody’s life. There’s not one successful person in the world who has not tasted failure. He also appreciated Classplus for bringing these lessons alive for all the teachers and their students.
He also took several questions from the audience. When asked about how to deal with performance pressure and fear of failure, Sourav replied, “Pressure is a part and parcel of every profession. The sooner you embrace pressure and nervousness, the better you’ll become at dealing with it. Having said that, no two people have the same way of dealing with pressure, Master Blaster Tendulkar listened to music on his headphones to calm himself down while I avoided going out of my hotel room before an important match. ”
“There is a lot we all can learn from a legend like Dada and the idea behind Extra Class was to shine a light on his extraordinary journey and get inspired. The life lessons he shared during the session will motivate our educators and their students to stay focused on their goals despite short-term failures. The entire Classplus team including Dada thanks all the teachers in the country who work 24x7 for their students”, commented Mukul Rustagi, co-founder, Classplus.
Sourav also thanked Classplus for the opportunity and added that this was a great platform to share his view and interact with teachers and their students. He also congratulated Mukul Rustagi and Bhaswat Agarwal, the co-founders of Classplus, for their efforts to empower educators.
